Storytelling Pathways
Storytelling Pathways is a six month programme, funded by Arts Council of England grant to start working with partners, the sector and underrepresented voices in storytelling to ensure we have a strong sector in England for the future.
We have already started making strong partnerships across the 4 UK Nations, and one thing that we have noticed is the urgent need for more joined up support and development in how we nurture more storytellers and representation.
Storytelling Pathways will be the seed for the start of us growing and amplifying underrepresented voices, including talent development, regional-national partnerships and supporting stronger career pathways.
Over the next six months we will be having open discussions, call outs, mentoring and dialogue, sharing opportunities and looking at creating specific programmes and residencies.
We are currently hosting Online Forums with the storytelling community. These forums are open to anyone on their storytelling career journey, at any point, whether you are about to start out, or have been a storyteller for decades. We are also keen to hear from those who use storytelling in education, cultural and work settings. We are keen to hear anyone with a connection to storytelling. Further information and dates can be found on our What's On page.
Mentoring Programme Update
We’re delighted to share that Adverse Camber has been successful raising funds from The Foyle Foundation to pilot a new mentoring scheme for storytellers based in England as part of our Storytelling Pathways programme.
In all conversations, mentoring comes up repeatedly as a way to help nurture development and we’re delighted that alongside continuing conversation about useful pathways, we can bring a new opportunity to the table, thanks to the hard work of our fundraisers and the valuable contributions of everyone who’s been part of the conversation so far!
We have started to have the conversations about mentoring in an open online conversation.
Following this conversation, we will be shaping the new scheme with our Storytelling Pathways co-designers, and launching the scheme in the New Year.
We hope to offer 5 mentoring places, and there will be more information about this in the New Year.
