Storying Our Futures Podcast Launch
Free Launch of Storytellers Podcasts
An introduction to Adverse Camber and ICPAC's storytelling & climate resilience project with the launch of a podcast series taking you behind the scenes and into a discussion forum about this international collaborative project funded by British Council.
Storying Our Futures: climate resilience through indigenous knowledge is a British Council funded international collaboration project, produced by Adverse Camber, with partner ICPAC (IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre). The aim of the project is to discover how storytelling can best serve the people and lands experiencing the worst impacts of climate crisis in the border territories of the Horn of Africa.
This event is an introduction to the project, and launch of a series of podcasts created with storytellers John Mukeni Namai and Mara Menzies, following a field trip to climate frontline communities in Northern Kenya.
The storytellers found that indigenous traditional knowledge and meteorology have been working hand in hand for decades, but both this collaboration and people’s ways of life are increasingly under pressure from the changing climate.
This webinar is free to attend and will be co-presented by project partners Linda Ogallo, climate change adaptation expert at ICPAC, Calistus Wachana, User Engagement Expert and Meteorologist ICPAC, Cath Heinemeyer, storyteller and lecturer in Ecological Justice at York St John University, Hannah McDowall, storyteller and co-director of Canopy, and Naomi Wilds, Producer at Adverse Camber.
