Funding success for Derbyshire's unaccompanied asylum seeking young people project
We're thrilled to announce we've received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to work with Derbyshire’s unaccompanied asylum seeking young people.
We're thrilled to announce we've received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for our new project - Culture Café Tells Stories to support Derbyshire’s unaccompanied asylum seeking young people. Thanks to National Lottery players, this group of young people will feel the support of their new home communities with informal sessions sharing food, games, socialising and of course listening to and telling stories!
Sef Townsend is the lead storyteller on the project with Aoife O'Connor as the supporting storyteller, we're also working with Learning Through Arts (who run regular Culture Cafés in Derbyshire for refugees, asylum seekers and their foster carers) and Derbyshire Virtual School. We're very grateful to Nottingham Playhouse who are hosting the sessions.
The project starts at the end of March 2023, we can't wait to meet the young people and see how the project takes shape!
You can find out more on the Culture Café Tells Stories project page.
