'Our Stories' Showcase Takes Shape for Tapton Lock Festival
After a fabulous story-making week at Bolsover Castle this August, and the regular sessions at West Studios in Chesterfield taking place since May, the showcase for Tapton Lock Festival is really taking shape!
Working with Junction Arts, an ensemble of young people from North East Derbyshire, our 4 ensemble artists (Beccy Dye, Aoife O'Connor, Maria Whatton & Lewis Doherty) and visual artist, Lucie Maycock, we discovered all kinds of storytelling skills, created and told stories, illustrated story cards, made a podcast and recorded stories and poems, all to be showcased at Tapton Lock Festival on Sat 10 September from 2pm.
Come along and see all the work that has developed from the Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures project, plus there will be a chance for you to join in with activities designed to help you explore your own stories!
It's the 10th anniversary of Tapton Lock Festival and Junction Arts are putting together something very special, find out more about this free family festival on Junction Arts' website.
During the week at Bolsover Castle, the young people also completed Arts Award Discover and most importantly, made some firm friends!
Huge thanks to all the young people involved for their energy and commitment to the project.
Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures has been made possible thanks to support from Arts Council England, Foundation Derbyshire and English Heritage, Bolsover Castle.
