Climate Justice: Meeting the Activists / Cyfiawnder Hinsawdd: Cyfarfod y Gweithredwyr

Storying Our Futures: climate resilience through indigenous knowledge is a British Council funded international collaboration project, produced by Adverse Camber, with partner ICPAC (IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre). The aim of the project is to discover how storytelling can best serve the people and lands experiencing the worst impacts of climate crisis in the border territories of the Horn of Africa.

This is a workshop looking at the roles storytellers and storytelling organisations can play in trying to meet the challenges of our global climate emergency. It's hosted in association with George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling at the University of South Wales.

How are activist organisations telling the stories of climate justice and solidarity? How can storytellers and storytelling organisations add to, and amplify these stories? Leading climate organisations share examples of the difficult stories they tell and how they balance the need to be truthful with the need to generate hope.

We will explore how to work with metaphor and symbol, and ways we can encourage listeners, viewers and readers into different ways of seeing and acting.

The session will include short presentations and small group breakouts, developing a shared list of creative principles for tellng the climate emergency.

Nod y prosiect yw darganfod sut y gall chwedleua fod o fwyaf o wasanaeth i’r bobl a’r tiroedd sy’n profi effeithiau gwaethaf yr argyfwng hinsawdd yn y tiriogaethau yng Ngogledd Ddwyrain Affrica.

Gweithdy yw hwn yn edrych ar y rhan y gall chwedleuwyr a sefydliadau chwedleua ei chwarae wrth geisio wynebu heriau ein hargyfwng hinsawdd byd-eang. Fe’i cynhelir ar y cyd â Chanolfan Chwedleua George Ewart Evans ym Mhrifysgol De Cymru.

Sut y mae sefydliadau gweithredu yn adrodd stori cyfiawnder hinsawdd ac undod? Sut y gall chwedleuwyr a sefydliadau chwedleua ychwanegu at y storïau hyn a’u cryfhau? Bydd gweithredwyr sy’n gweithio gyda sefydliadau hinsawdd yn rhannu enghreifftiau o’r storïau anodd y maent yn eu dweud a sut y maent yn tafoli’r angen i fod yn eirwir â’r angen i ennyn gobaith.

Byddwn yn archwilio sut i weithio gyda throsiad a symbol, a ffyrdd y gallwn annog gwrandawyr, gwylwyr a darllenwyr i ffyrdd gwahanol o weld a gweithredu.

Bydd y sesiwn yn cynnwys cyflwyniadau byr a chyfnodau mewn grwpiau bach, gan ddatblygu rhestr ar y cyd o egwyddorion creadigol ar gyfer sôn am yr argyfwng hinsawdd.
